Hump-Day Hottie!

Posted in Hotties, Hump Day Hotties at 8:15 am by Faith

I’ve been listening to a lot of stand-up comedy recently. One of my favorite comedians is a GOOD LOOKIN’ DUDE. To me, this guy is the full package. He’s cute, funny… and apparently, a breakout actor. While I enjoyed him in those critical bombs Waiting and Employee of the Month, I CANNOT wait to check him out in Mr. Brooks, a movie he’s getting solid reviews for. Without further explanation, I give you Dane Cook:

A Good Cry

Posted in Guilty Pleasures, Must See TV at 8:12 am by Faith

So, it’s a little-known secret (well, not so little among my group of friends) that I Tivo Dawson’s Creek every morning. The beauty of Tivo is that I don’t necessarily HAVE to watch it every day. As I’ve been super busy lately, I’ve been stockpiling the episodes and then sit down and have a little mini-marathon.

I didn’t see the series finale of Dawson’s Creek when it originally aired. This was mainly because I was pissed off back in the day that Joey chose Pacey over Dawson (what was that? The end of Season Three?) Subsequently, I swore off the show. Fast forward quite a few years. Dawson’s Creek is now enjoying a daily morning run on TBS, one of the few GOOD cable channels I get. Therefore, it makes sense that I naturally began Tivoing it.

I just got done watching the series finale. Personally, I’ve been disappointed with series finales, for the most part. THIS one was very different. I didn’t expect it to be so poignant and touching. I didn’t expect it to make me cry buckets. I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. I didn’t expect to have one of those good “girly cry sessions.” So, to Kevin Williamson and the cast of Dawson’s Creek, I say thank you.

….and did anyone else find it HILARIOUS that Deputy Doug really DID end up being gay?!? I love it….

It’s Official!

Posted in Friends, Life, Slacking at 3:18 pm by Faith

Grades were just posted at my Graduate School. It IS official! Faith is a bona-fide grad school graduate! (No, not that I was worried or anything… it’s just nice to know that when I walked at graduation, it wasn’t just for show and that I WILL get a degree with my name and title on it.)

Hooray for me! (and Kitrah, although… really? Didn’t doubt hers for a moment.)

Hump-Day Hottie: This One’s For The Boys

Posted in Hotties, Hump Day Hotties at 12:20 pm by Faith

I’m aware that I do have a few male readers out there in the blog-o-verse… so I thought I would mix things up and introduce a female into the mix. While I looovvvee the opposite sex, I’m not blind. I can totally see when a girl is (or should be) considered hot. I will always question SOME of the pin-up babes of our time (Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, and Anna Nicole Smith are the immediate trio that come to mind), but this week’s Hump Day Hottie is someone who I think you’d have to be blind not to consider totally babe-worthy.

Case in point: I was hanging with two of my older brothers over a holiday, and we were watching a movie with her in it. While this movie is VERY much made for the male audience, I’m a fan of it. It’s even in my video collection. Anyway, my brothers like to banter with each other during movies, but at the point in time that SHE came onto the screen, they both fell completely silent and just stared at her. I’m not quite sure why they fell so silent: Because they were mesmerized by her or because they didn’t want to look like jerks for saying that they thought she was hot. So, me being who I am, I decided to break the ice:

Faith: (looking at the television screen) I’d hit that.
Older Brothers: (incredulous look at Faith, followed by hysterical laughter)

Now, I like the opposite sex. Duh. But if I ever WERE to stray over to the other side, SHE would be my first celebrity crush. With no further explanation, I give you this week’s belated Hump Day Hottie:

…and as I’m sure you’ll all figured out by now, the movie in question that evening was Sin City.

“Word, Cotton!”

I’m not a big fan of this strip, but I thought that FOR ONCE, the artist and I were on the same page:

The rumor has it that the fan campaigns have not worked. The show is “dead,” in the words of it’s creator.

Screw you, The CW.

F***ing Awesome!

I saw my friend Marilyn for the first time since graduating from grad school. She and I have been friends since BEFORE either of us got into grad school. She was two years ahead of me, but we kept in touch (as we were supremely close before she graduated from grad school and got a grown-up job and all.)

Anyway… her present to me hit the nail RIGHT on its head. Observe:

For those of you Buffy, the Vampire Slayer geeks in the audience, yes, it’s a FAITH action figure! Not only is the Faith action figure, it’s the “Graduation Day” action figure! (On my list as one of my favorite episodes of Buffy… EVER.) My only beef is that it looks NOTHING like Eliza Dushku, who played Faith. You may be familiar with her look by now:

Despite that, I do have to say just ONE thing. She could not have gotten me a better graduation gift. Simply put, old friends are not JUST the best friends. Old friends f****n’ RULE!

Thanks, Marilyn! 😀

Karma Chameleon

Posted in Life, Random, Work at 4:08 pm by Faith

Those of you that have been following me around have heard all about my encounters with a catty classmate. For those of you just tuning in, Catty Classmate (original, right?) was a person I had classes with and was generally friendly towards. They seemed like a really nice person, so when I found out that CC and I both had summer jobs in the same town, I was pretty stoked.

Fast-forward a few months. Catty Classmate, for reasons I STILL haven’t figured out, did everything in their power to get me fired from my summer job. I have no reasons to think what they did was out of anything but pure maliciousness. Catty Classmate never found out that I knew for a fact that THEY were the one who started everything. (My former boss, cool dude that he was, spilled the beans and identified CC as the instigator.)

In any case, I was forced to work with CC over the course of the next year. This did not please me. AT ALL. Although I’m a crappy crappy poker player, I managed to keep my hand firmly to my chest when it came to CC. I was a good co-worker, always friendly and was even known to sit down and gab with CC at great length. CCNEVER knew that I secretly plotted their demise.

Anyway, I JUST found out that CC and I have both secured real-world jobs. Although we have similar work experience (and I’m sure CC had better grades,) is it wrong that I’m totally basking in the fact that I’m being paid about $5,000 more per year?

Hee hee hee hee…. you’ve gotta love karma sometimes.

Hump-Day Hottie! Thursday Edition

Posted in Hotties, Hump Day Hotties at 3:01 pm by Faith

*gasp!* I MISSED this week’s installment of the Hump-Day Hottie! Please accept a late submission.

This guy’s been on my list for quite a while, but heaven forbid, I FORGOT ABOUT HIM until I visited Heather’s site a few minutes ago. Then I got… inspired. 🙂

Na-na Na-na Na-na Na-na, Na-na Na-na Na-na Na-na…. BATMAN! BATMAN!

Not to be shallow, but LOOK AT THOSE ABS!

*Afterthought* He’s a decent actor, too.
